INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CUPCAKES

A global fixture since 1977, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8th 2023 and is a day to recognise the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. This year the theme is #InspireInclusion and we are challenged with imagining a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

We've come up with some ideas how you can celebrate International Women's Day this year in your workplace. (If you want to order International Women's Day cupcakes - just click here!)

1. Organise or attend an event: Check with local groups or search online for events happening in your area or set up an internal event of your own. Give everyone the time to learn a bit more about IWD and chat about changes that could be made. Introducing a talking point is a good way to do this. Our logo cupcakes and biscuits have been used really well for the past few years so spread awareness. See a few examples below.

2. Learn about women's history: Take some time to learn about the history of women's rights and the contributions women have made to society. You can read books or watch documentaries on the subject.

3. Support women-owned businesses: Did you know Print Cakes is a Women owned business? Helena set up the logo cupcake enterprise in 2018 on the back of a successful celebration cake business. It's grown a lot since then, but Helena is still at the heart of it and even still gets involved making the cakes.

Make a point to shop at women-owned businesses in your community or online. You can also support women artists and entrepreneurs by purchasing their products or services.

4. Volunteer for a women's organisation: There are many organisations that support women's causes, such as domestic violence shelters, women's health clinics, and advocacy groups. Consider volunteering your time and resources to support their mission.

5. Donate to a women's charity: If you're not able to volunteer, consider making a donation to a women's charity. There are many organisations that work to support women's rights and equality, such as the Rights of Women, Girls Who Code, or the The Fawcett Society.

6. Spread Awareness: Share information about the importance of International Women's Day (and snaps of your delicious cupcakes!) with others, such as friends, family, or colleagues. You can also use social media (and the hashtag!) to spread awareness about the day and women's issues. Remember, the goal of International Women's Day is to promote gender equality and empower women. By celebrating the day and supporting women in your community and around the world, you can help create a more equal and just society.
